An easy three mile circular with incredible views over Derwent Water and the Fells beyond.
This circular route is a good walk for wheels. The track is good, but steep in places, so therefore do not recommend using a manual wheelchair. The route begins at the carpark at the head of Gales Road, heading through the gate and follows the signs for footpath for limited mobility. Here the path begins to climb and out in front of you breathtaking views over Keswick and Derwent Water. For very little climb, the scenery is spectacular. There is even a bench at the viewing point for the weary walker to rest their legs and take time to drink in the view! This route is just under three miles in length. Although there are no facilities at the car park I highly recommend driving down into Threlkeld and stopping off either at the Community Cafe or the Horse and Farrier Pub. The community cafe is very modern and is totally wheelchair accessible - the facilities are excellent. ( blue badge parking, lift up to the cafe, accessible toilets) The pub is all on one level, with accessible toilet. The food is highly recommended at both of these pitstops.
